At 71% FD’s turnover compares favourably to the New Zealand cleaning sector

Employee turnover in the cleaning industry is structurally high. At 71% annually, FD’s turnover is lower than what is commonly observed across the New Zealand cleaning sector, particularly among smaller and more fragmented providers. This aligns with findings from Ringa Hora*¹ (Workforce Development Council), which show that larger cleaning businesses in New Zealand tend to retain workers better than small operators. Fresh Desk sees this performance as a result of scale, workforce practices, and continuity of hours, while recognising that further improvement remains a priority.
